  • Teach for America (TFA) is a national organization that works towards the day when every child will receive an excellent and equitable education. The team at TFA Metro Atlanta sought support in developing a deeper understanding of Social Emotional Learning so they could, in turn, support Corp Members (teachers) in their own development and implementation of SEL.

Heart Shift Consulting was hired to conduct a series of trainings with the core regional team, multiple trainings with the Corps Members, and to develop key team SEL materials (wellness guide and a training toolkit).

    Participant Feedback:

"Love your flexibility in facilitating our conversation and how much joy you bring to your work--it's clear you love what you do, Kori, and that makes these sessions feel very impactful and valuable. Thank you."

"Honestly, you were just light for me on a week that I've been struggling through. I don't have a request for next training aside from asking you to continue bringing that. SEL work is really important, particularly in this time and I'm excited to see what learn through this."

    Client Feedback:

"Our sessions with Kori are always personalized and exceed our expectations because Kori takes the time to get to know everyone on a personal level. Our staff loves her facilitation techniques and skills. She ensures that everyone is seen, heard, and engaged in meaningful ways that take into account various learning styles. She urges us to "do" SEL and models it flawlessly for us as she trans and supports our learning its components."

  • Estrella High School leader Willi Sanchez came to Heart Shift Consulting knowing exactly what she wanted- to expand Restorative Practices (RP) at her school. A small school team completed formal training with IIRP a year prior, and it was time to train the entire faculty and staff on the practices that would shape the school culture moving forward.

Over two consecutive days, the school faculty and staff completed the first two days of RP- Intro to Restorative Practice and Using Circles Effectively. Each day composed of asynchronous learning in the morning, and virtual instruction/practice in the afternoon.

    Participant Feedback:

"I thought Kori was a super engaging and skillful facilitator. She was a great model for how to facilitate Circles and discussions in general."

"This training was inclusive for all staff members and that was most appreciated. Often I feel left out, but not with this training. Thanks!"

"I really and truly enjoyed this training. Your energy really made it easy to engage and keep interested. Thank you so much for you time Kori!"

    Client Feedback:

"The first thing Kori did was make it clear that this training was about my school and the students we serve and that her goal was to support me in tailoring it to be as effective as possible. She was engaging, personable and was able to build a connection with my staff virtually that I have not seen accomplished with other presenters. I'm excited to see what we are able to do with the tools she has shared!"

  • Hands on Atlanta is a Georgia non profit that maximizes and mobilizes volunteerism in Atlanta and beyond. One of their many service opportunities places AmeriCorps volunteers into local public schools.

In order to best equip their volunteers with the knowledge and skills to meet the needs of the students they support, Heart Shift Consulting was hired to conduct two trainings on Social Emotional Learning. The first training took place before school began, and the second was held at the end of the first semester. Using participant feedback, the training sessions were designed to address the questions and concerns most important to them.
