Prioritizing the development of strong and meaningful relationships between individuals and communities through Restorative Practices.

Building bonds that withstand conflict and harm.

Restorative Practices is a social science that studies how to strengthen relationships between individuals and within communities.

Critical components of RP include building and maintaining relationships, repairing harm, encouraging accountability, facilitating dialogue, promoting inclusion and equality, and preventing future harm. Restorative practices have profound effects and can be implemented in schools, at work, within the community, and in the criminal justice system.

As a Restorative Practices trainer certified through the International Institute for Restorative Practices (IIRP), Kori Sanchez Smith assists individuals and groups in implementing proactive systems and practices to foster a cohesive community and facilitate the restoration of relationships after periods of disconnection.

Support Solutions

Following the IIRP training framework, Kori’s Restorative Practices training series includes Introduction to Restorative Practices, where attendees learn strategies they can use everyday to resolve conflicts; Using Circles Effectively, devoted to learning how to facilitate restorative circles, essential for building social capital, resolving social problems, and responding when harm occurs, and lastly, Facilitating Restorative Practices, where attendees learn to facilitate a formal, scripted circle process to address racial incidents, bullying, vandalism, and other serious infractions. Trainings are tailored to meet clients’ specific needs.

What People Are Saying

"Our teacher leaders choose Heart Shift Consulting from a variety of providers based on Kori's foci, materials, and grounded perspective of what real classrooms look like in today's schools. In our first session with her, even our most hesitant educators were involved and engaged and I was surprised and excited when educators asked to change our plans for the year to work with Kori in more sustained restorative practices work. Throughout our year of working together, Kori has been responsible, empathetic, focused, and honest with us. Our ability to serve students in challenging circumstances has increased meaningfully with her support."
